Flying in for Plastic Surgery in New York

In today's global day and age, geography and location no longer limit one's potential or opportunity. This extends to plastic surgery as well, as people choose the best surgeon for them based on aesthetics, style and experience instead of local availability. The doctors at Profiles & Contours have patients fly in for surgery from all over the nation to benefit from their style and experience.

And it couldn't be easier. The staff at Profiles & Contours are accustomed to helping patients who have flown in for surgery. With an onsite post-operative apartment as well as being close to some of the best luxury hotels in the world, out-of-the-area patients can choose their preferred accommodations and recuperate without the distractions of home. Many people choose to have a loved one or friend travel with them for support. As healing progresses and the patient is ready to venture out, the world's best city is at one's beck and call. World-class shopping, museums and theatres are available at every turn.

How Flying In Works

Once you have chosen the procedure that you would like to have, you do not need to come in for a preliminary consultation with our surgeons. Filling out forms as well as providing current photos of your body can take the place of the initial meeting and can all be accomplished from the comfort of your own home. Staff can help you set your itinerary and suggest accommodations. Be prepared to stay about a week, though that timeline could change depending on your procedure. Also, you don't have to go through your recovery alone. Many of our fly-in patients travel with a friend or family member to keep them company while they heal.

The Trip

We recommend that patients arrive a minimum of twenty-four hours before their scheduled surgery. This allows for a full in-depth pre-operative consultation and photographs prior to the day of surgery. This also gives the patient ample time to get situated and comfortable with their new surroundings.

The Surgery

Most surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis at our New York City plastic surgery center and typically last less than two hours. After the surgery you will be able to rest and relax as much as you need to. If you choose to stay in our on-site post-operative apartment you will be in a comfortable setting with nurses and care workers close by who can assist you if you were to need any help. Hotels we recommend are also accustomed to our patients. From room service to phone calls, the staff can help create a relaxing, easy experience and minimize any difficulties you may have during your stay.

A Time to Heal

We ask that all of our fly-in patients stay for about a week after surgery. This gives your body a chance to heal and allows you time to rest and recover. Five to seven days after your surgery you will have your follow-up appointment. While the healing process continues for weeks and sometimes months after surgery, swelling, redness and tenderness are most pronounced during the first week. When you fly-in for surgery and spend a week recuperating in New York City, you can return home looking better than ever. The bulk of the swelling or redness will have dissipated and you can wow your friends and family with your new look.

Choosing to have plastic surgery is a personal decision. Choosing your plastic surgeon is just as personal. It's important that you choose the surgeon in whom you have the most faith and who meets your personal criteria. Flying in for surgery with Dr. Erlich or Dr. Farruggio is an easy thing to do and can give you a relaxing recovery period where you can focus on you and your healing process without being distracted by any at-home obligations.
