New York Endoscopic Surgery

The introduction of endoscopic surgery has revolutionized a number of cosmetic surgery procedures.

The endoscopic is a hollow tube containing magnifying lenses that is attached to a video camera. This scope is inserted through one or more very small incisions, and the surgical field is seen clearly magnified on a large TV monitor. Specialized instruments, including lasers, have been modified for use with the endoscope, allowing many cosmetic procedures to be performed through small, easily concealed incisions. The procedures most commonly performed with the endoscope are the forehead/brow lift, the tightening of the muscles of the neck, and the interruption of those muscles that cause central frown lines.

The greatest benefit of endoscopic cosmetic surgery is in forehead lifting since the more traditional methods of performing this procedure often necessitated very long incisions. Today, this procedure, performed endoscopically, requires only a few short incisions that can be very well hidden behind the hairline.

During the endoscopic forehead lift, the muscles that are responsible for creating vertical frown lines can be permanently interrupted. For patients who want only to eradicate the central frown lines, this can be done endoscopically through a centrally placed one-inch incision through which the muscles are interrupted without performing a full forehead lift.

The endoscope can also be used for tightening the muscles of the neck when a patient does not need or want a complete face lift in New York. This procedure, however, can only be performed when the patient has no laxity in the skin of the neck.

Endoscopic surgery is undoubtedly one of modern plastic surgery's brightest technological advances. Most endoscopic procedures take about an hour to perform and are done in our surgery center on an outpatient basis, allowing a return to work and full activity in one week. It is most likely that your endoscopic procedure will be performed at our New York plastic surgery center, but for you convenience, you can opt to visit our Connecticut cosmetic surgery offices for your initial consultation and after care appointments.
